Arkansas apostille requirements for divorce judgments
To be eligible for an apostille, an Arkansas divorce record must be either a certified copy of the divorce judgment issued by the county where the divorce was finalized or a divorce certificate issued by the Arkansas Department of Health’s Vital Records office.
A notary public may not certify a photocopy of a document that is a vital record or a public record.
Where to get a certified copy eligible for an apostille?
If you need a copy of the original divorce decree or judgment, contact the county clerk's office in the county where the divorce was finalized.
You can also obtain certified copies of divorce certificates from the Arkansas Department of Health, Vital Records Division: Order Divorce Records - Arkansas Department of Health.
Arkansas is a "closed record" state. That means that divorce records are not public records. The following individulas are eligible to get a certified copy of the divorce record:
- Individual age 16 and older (if named on the record)
- Mother
- Father (if named on the birth certificate)
- Children
- Grandchild
